The event takes place at the Eikon site in Lisburn, a spacious and iconic venue ideal for hosting races of all distances with plenty of room for spectators, activities, and facilities.

Yes! The McKinney Games is designed for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re aiming to complete your first 5K or tackling a full marathon, there’s a race to suit everyone.

Absolutely! Family and friends are encouraged to come along, support the runners, and enjoy the buzzing event atmosphere. It’s a great day out for everyone.

Will there be food and drink available?
Yes — a range of food trucks and refreshment stalls will be on-site, offering everything from snacks and coffee to hot meals and treats.

What should I bring on race day?
Bring your running gear, race confirmation (printed or on your phone), a refillable water bottle, and plenty of positive energy! We’ll provide the rest — including hydration stations, toilets, and first aid.

Do all runners really win a prize?
Yes — every runner who crosses the finish line receives a sealed envelope containing a mystery prize. Prizes range from £25 McKinney Competitions site credit to a £5,000 cash prize.

How do I register for a race?
Registration is simple — just visit our official website, choose your preferred race distance, fill out your details, and complete payment to secure your spot.

Can I register on the day of the event?
No. Registration will close 27th September 2025.

Can I change my race distance after registering?
Yes, but only up to a certain date before race day. Please contact our team at hello@mckinney.games to request a change.

What’s the deadline for registration?
Online registration closes on 21st August 2026 or once the race capacity is reached — whichever comes first. Register before the 21st August 2026 to guarantee your t-shirt in your size.
Race Day

What time do the races start, and when should I arrive?
Start times vary depending on the race. You’ll receive an email with full details before race day. We recommend arriving at least one hour early to check in, warm up, and get ready

Is there a cut-off time to complete the marathon?
Yes — the full marathon has a 6-hour cut-off time to ensure safety and a smooth event experience for all participants.

Will there be water and aid stations along the route?
Yes, hydration stations will be placed every 3 miles, with water, energy drinks, and first aid support available along the course.

Is the event chip-timed?
Yes — all timed races (marathon, half, 20M, 10M, 10K, 5K) are professionally chip-timed so you can track your official results.

Can I run with headphones or a personal music device?
Headphones not allowed if they cover the ears or are inserted into the ear canal. Ones that sit in contact with the bone are permitted.
The Athletics NI permit for the event does not cover any dogs running with runners in races, or the use of buggies or headphones.

Yes, there is free on-site parking, with areas clearly signposted for participants, spectators, and accessible parking.

Is public transport available to the Eikon site?
There is no public transport link to the Eikon. The nearest would be the bus stop at Sprucefield Shopping Centre and is approx 2 miles away from the Eikon.

Are there drop-off zones for participants?
Yes, a designated drop-off and pick-up area will be available near the entrance for convenience.
